Free passports for over 78s
If you're over 78 and a British national, you're eligible for a free passport. If you, or someone you know, were born on or before 2 September 1929 then you're entitled to a free 32-page, ten year passport, which for adults born after that date currently costs £72.
If you have applied for a passport since 19 May 2004 and you're eligible for a free passport, you can apply for a Refund of the standard passport fee.
The Identity and Passport Service can provide information about your free passport or applying for a refund on the Passport Adviceline 0870 521 0410, 24 hours a day.
