Curry & 4 Cans of Lager for under £1.70

So you fancy a curry and a few tins of lager to wash it down with but you are low on cash,

What can you do ?

Well there are a number of options available and 2 of them revolve around a trip to a supermarket. Take your pick of either ASDA or TESCO, both major competitors with each other in a bid to release you from your cash.

At the time of writing TESCO currently have on offer in their own brand value ready meal range, a chicken curry and rice weighing in at 300 grammes and all for a princely sum of 79 pence, this when combined with, again their own brand 2% ( not a lot i grant you ) value lager pack of 4 x 440ml cans at 88 pence gives you a curry and 4 tins for a grand total of £1.67

However................should you have an ASDA nearer to hand then the deal gets even cheaper.

Again it's down to own brand marketing but ASDA have a chicken curry weighing the same as the TESCO one at 300 grammes for a jaw dropping 45 pence. Their smart price pack of 4 x 440ml cans of lager are however the same as TESCO at 88 pence making this a total amount of £1.33 saving you 34 pence on the TESCO combination.

Hows about a FREE curry and lager combo ?

Should a MORRISONS store be you choice of supermarket then they have similar offers with their own brand labeling but how do you get it for FREE ?

Well if you use your car to take your shopping home then fill it up at MORRISONS and pick up one of the black and yellow petrol cards from the store and start to collect the points awarded for fuel purchases. You have to put petrol in anyway so why not take advantage unless of course the price per litre is massively cheaper elsewhere. When you have reached 5000 points on your petrol card you will receive a £5 voucher to spend on your shopping in MORRISONS, effectively getting your curry and lager combo for nothing and still having some spare cash.

The comparison between TESCO and ASDA was easily done without having to leave the comfort of my chair and was all done through the website www.mysupermarket.com This is a fantastic site for gauging similar items from four of the major supermarkets in the UK, being TESCO, ASDA, SAINSBURY'S and OCADO. Mixing and matching your items and comparing the difference in prices at the top of the screen between the four supermarkets can drastically reduce your weekly shop.

I have added the drop down box below which contains further UK based supermarkets not included on the mysupermarket.com website. Simply select the supermarket you want then click the " Go " button and you will be redirected to the website.

As ever, this post will be added to the MoneySavingExtreme website forum for open discussion.
